Lakeland Electric launches new tool to report streetlight outages

Lakeland Electric has indeed introduced a more streamlined way to handle this. They recently launched an interactive Streetlight Reporting Map, which is designed to replace the need for traditional phone calls and make the process much faster.

How the New Tool Works

The system is built on a “Click, Report, Done” model. You can access it through the Lakeland Electric website or their mobile app.

  • Step 1: Locate – Open the interactive map and search by address or zoom in to find the specific light icon.
  • Step 2: Select – Click on the streetlight icon that corresponds to the light that is flickering, discolored, or completely out.
  • Step 3: Submit – Click “Report an Incident,” provide a few quick details, and submit.

Key Benefits

  • Faster Response: The tool automatically notifies repair crews, which helps them streamline their routes.
  • Real-Time Status: The map often shows existing reported outages, so you can see if a neighbor has already flagged the issue.
  • Accessibility: It’s mobile-friendly, meaning you can pull it up while out on a walk or drive and report it immediately.

If you ever encounter an issue that isn’t appearing on the map or have trouble with the digital tool, you can still reach their Customer Service at (863) 834-9535.

  1. I just wish they’d replace the aging, antique infrastructure in our neighborhood. The line serving my home has not been updated in sixty years. The pole is leaning about 15 degrees and the power goes out at the drop of a hat. LE leadership is opaque; I don’t even know who is in charge over there.
