It looks like the local food scene is buzzing! Public plan-review documents were just submitted for a new spot called Lakeland Donuts.
Here is what we know about the project so far:
- The Location: The shop is targeting a compact retail space at 2810 S. Florida Avenue, right next to the Holy Moly Smoke Shop and just south of the Market at Southgate (where the Publix, Starbucks, and Five Guys are).
- Who is Behind It: State business records show the LLC was registered by a manager named Sophal Cheng. When local business reporters reached out for details on the concept, Cheng kept things under wraps and declined to comment.
- The Timeline: Because they are just in the early plan-review and permitting phase with the city, there isn’t an official opening date or menu posted yet.
It will be interesting to see what kind of concept they bring to the table, especially with Parlor Doughnuts holding down downtown with their layered donuts and Hole In One Donuts serving as the classic neighborhood standby on the north side.
