They absolutely crushed it! The No. 2 ranked Moccasins punched their ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championship game after a dominant 12-5 victory over No. 14 Pace University in Rochester, New York.
It was a total tale of two halves. The first 30 minutes were a defensive grind, with the teams locked in a tight 3-3 tie at halftime. But whatever adjustments head coach Kara Reber made at the break worked perfectly—the Mocs’ offense exploded for a 9-2 run in the second half to completely pull away.
Key Standouts from the Semifinal:
- Jenna Vetter: Completely took over after intermission, racking up 4 goals and 3 assists (all 7 points came in the second half).
- Riley Rivera: Stepped up big with a career-high 3 goals.
- Kolby Cohen: Dominant in the midfield, securing 6 critical draw controls to keep possession in FSC’s hands.
- Annesley Flint: The freshman goalie was rock-solid, making 6 crucial saves and holding Pace to just two goals over the final 37 minutes of the match.
This marks the Mocs’ first trip back to the national title game since 2018.
What’s Next: The National Championship
They won’t have long to celebrate. Florida Southern (20-1) will face No. 3 seed Maryville University (17-4) for the national title. Maryville advanced by taking down East Stroudsburg 15-11 in the other semifinal matchup.
The Rematch: This will be a sequel to their regular-season meeting back on March 22, where the Mocs handled Maryville in a convincing 20-10 win at home.
The title game is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, at 5:00 PM at Judson Stadium.
