This is massive news for North Lakeland’s nightlife. After two decades of various country dance halls occupying that massive space on Highway 98 North, seeing it transition to local owners who actually live and run businesses right in the same plaza is a great twist.
Daniel and Caroline Gay (who also own the UPS Store in that plaza) buying it from Greg Urban feels like a win for keeping things rooted in the community.
Here is a quick look at what is changing and what is staying the same under the new City Limits banner:
🌟 What’s New & Upgraded
- The Concept: Instead of just a standard DJ dance hall, they are splitting the massive footprint into two distinct, dedicated experiences under one roof.
- The Outskirts: This newly designated zone will feature live music and bands (on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays). During the daytime (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), it will operate as a casual hangout spot for drinks, pool, and darts.
- The Dance Hall: This side remains completely dedicated to structured country line dancing, complete with freshly refinished wooden floors.
- Heavy Renovations: They didn’t just change the sign on the door. The Gays invested heavily in a brand-new sound system, upgraded lighting, completely renovated restrooms, new bar equipment, and fresh paint throughout.
🪕 The Weekly Lineup
- Wednesday & Saturday: Live music and entertainment.
- Thursday (Ladies Night): Free admission for women 21 and older, drink specials, line dancing lessons, and female musical performers.
- Friday (“The Friday Standard”): A high-energy night with a live DJ mixing popular hits to keep the dance floor packed.
🛡️ What’s Staying the Same
The new owners are hyper-focused on making sure the venue remains a fun, safe spot for North Lakeland. They are keeping a tight grip on security, confirming they will continue to use professional security personnel and off-duty law enforcement officers for larger events, just like the previous ownership did.
It officially opens for its big debut weekend right now. It is great to see the north side getting a major, elevated live music venue run by locals.
