That sounds like a classic Grady Judd-ism fresh off the press.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office just dropped that story in its Monday morning briefing today (July 6, 2026). Leave it to Sheriff Judd to highlight a case where a suspect blames Ted Nugent’s classic rock track—or an actual case of “Cat scratch fever”—for completely inappropriate behavior toward a delivery driver.
A man was arrested after he exposed himself to a DoorDash delivery driver in Combee Settlement and told authorities he took off his clothes because of a cat scratch, according to the sheriff’s office.
A woman went to a house on North Combee Road to deliver food to David Thorsen, 57.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Thorsen opened the door, wearing nothing but a shirt.
“When she’s trying to do the DoorDash, he lifts his shirt and shows her his dash,” Judd said.
She reported the incident to law enforcement when the sheriff’s office received another call about Thorsen walking around North Combee Road and Canal Drive naked, according to Judd.
Deputies arrived at Thorsen’s residence on June 29 and asked him why he had exposed himself. According to Judd, Thorsen told deputies that his kitten scratched him.
“Is that the best excuse you’ve got?” Judd said. “We’re going to take you to jail. There are no cats, and we’re going to give you some britches to wear. And we expect you to keep them on.
Thorsen was charged with public nudity and violation of probation, and was charged with an unlawfully concealed weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
