We’re relieved to share that K9 Ace is in stable condition following emergency surgery this afternoon after being shot in the line of duty last night in Polk County, FL.
Ace, a 7-year-old K9, was struck by gunfire while protecting his handler and fellow deputies during a dangerous confrontation with an armed suspect off Rushing Road in the Kathleen area. Sheriff Grady Judd credited Ace with saving three deputies’ lives. Though Ace survived, his front leg sustained an arterial wound so severe that it required amputation.
