Hackers say they yanked a Flock Safety license plate camera off a pole, cracked it open, and handed the guts to journalists.
According to a teardown of that dump, one camera logged about 50,200 vehicles and cranked out roughly 1.6 million images in about three weeks. Software on the unit was detecting people, not just plates.
Flock says ripping a camera is illegal and says it does not have enough detail to assess the encryption claims. Governor Ron DeSantis has warned these ALPRs may capture more than tags, and Florida already ordered them off state road rights-of-way.
