Early voting starts Monday. Bring a neighbor.
Starting Monday, Oct. 19, every registered voter in Polk County can cast a ballot at any of 10 early voting sites, from Lakeland and Winter Haven to Poinciana and Lake Wales, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day through Oct. 31. Citrus Connection is even offering free bus rides to the polls for anyone who shows a voter registration card. There is no reason to wait for Nov. 3.
For nearly eight years, Gov. Ron DeSantis has shown what conservative leadership can do. Florida kept boys out of girls’ sports, stood up for border security and kept taxes low. That record is on the ballot.
Byron Donalds and Bryan Avila will carry it forward in Tallahassee. Sen. Ashley Moody, Attorney General James Uthmeier, CFO Blaise Ingoglia and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, a Polk County native and working farmer, will keep it going statewide. In Congress, Rep. Scott Franklin, Dan Green and Sydney Gruters will stand with Polk families.
Here at home, Sen. Colleen Burton and Reps. Jonathan Albert, Jennifer Kincart Jonsson, Hilary Holley and Lakeland’s own Jennifer Canady, the incoming House speaker, have earned your vote. Omar Arroyo will bring a former mayor’s experience to the County Commission, and Kate Wallace has earned a full term on the School Board.
If you want to keep more of what you earn, vote yes on Amendment 3, which raises the homestead exemption, and no on the new school property tax.
In Polk, elections are won by the people who show up. Pick your day, pick your site, and bring someone with you.
Sam Romain, Chairman, Polk County Republican Party, Lakeland
