Haines City Police Officer Fired After Extreme DUI Arrest in Marked Patrol SUV

On October 17, 2026, Joseph Jabar Everett, 29, of Davenport—an officer with the Haines City Police Department—was arrested in Orange County by the Orlando Police Department.

Incident Summary

  • Charges: Everett was booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of DUI (Blood/Breath Alcohol Level of .20 or greater) and Reckless Driving.
  • Patrol Vehicle: According to police records and photos from the scene, Everett was off-duty at the time of his arrest but was in a clearly marked Haines City Police Department patrol SUV.
  • Employment Status: Everett joined the Haines City Police Department in July 2026. Following his arrest, the department terminated his employment.

Prior Background

Records indicate Everett previously served with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). In 2024, he was arrested on a DUI charge after admitting to drinking whiskey before driving. He resigned from PCSO at that time; however, prosecutors ultimately dropped the charges in 2025, resulting in no conviction before he was subsequently hired by Haines City.
