Color Wave Walls: Lakeland’s Inaugural Mural Festival 2026

Lakeland is adding a splash of fall color as Color Wave Walls, the city’s inaugural mural festival, kicks off in Downtown Lakeland from November 6–14, 2026.

Co-founded by local muralists Gillian Fazio and Katerina Santos (of TRATOS), the biennial festival aims to transform downtown into an “open-air museum without doors”.

Event Highlights

  • 11 Artists, 11 Walls: A global pool of 11 muralists—selected from 438 applicants across 33 states and 21 countries—will be creating 11 large-scale original works across downtown building walls.
  • Live Creation: Visitors can watch the artists paint live throughout the festival week.
  • Community Engagement: Public programming will feature artist talks, education initiatives, and volunteer opportunities.
  • A Permanent Legacy: Unlike temporary installations, these murals are designed as permanent additions to Lakeland’s cultural landscape, with future editions planned every two years.
