Barack Obama, Angie Nixon, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Private Property Ownership, and Midterm Voting

On October 24, 2026, former President Barack Hussein Obama (D) endorsed FL State Representative Angela “Angie” Nixon (Jacksonville-D) for the United States Senate.

Angie Dixon joined the Democratic Socialists of America or DSA in June 2026. “I don’t fully align with anybody’s full platform 100%, not even the Democratic Party,” Nixon said.

The pro-socialist Jacobin recently ran an article: “Socialize all Housing.” Quoting the pro-socialist Jacobin (bold added): “People are right to want control over their homes and their futures. Socialized housing, not private ownership, can make that promise a reality for everyone.” “We advocate the abolition of private ownership of housing and a fully socialized housing system.”

For millions, socialism sounds hip, in and cool. For millions, a big smile and magnetic personality and denouncing certain people, groups or causes are enough to gain someone’s vote. But how many would vote for Nixon or any other DSA candidates if they realized that if socialists come to power that they are openly indicating that some 2/3rd of Americans who are homeowners will lose their rights to privately owned property?

While the pro-socialist Jacobin’s recent article spelled it out: “We advocate the abolition of private ownership of housing and a fully socialized housing system,” that is hardly the first time taking private property rights was revealed as the socialist position. Karl Marx (think “Marxism) and Friedrich Engels were the co-authors of the Communist Manifesto, which says socialism is a transitional stage into communism.

Quoting the Communist Party USA website are these historic views on the links between socialism and communism in the words of Marx, Engels, and Lenin. Per that source, Marx, Engels, and Lenin “discuss the distinction between the first socialist transitional phase and the communist phase itself. Marx, Engels, and Lenin discuss the “dictatorship of the proletariat” in the transitional phase to communism proper. Lenin notes the universal and the particular in socialism in each country, and he also discusses the relationship of radical democratization to socialism. Lenin also discusses concessions by the new socialist state to domestic and foreign capitalists.”

Marx wrote: “The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.”

Professor R.J. Rummel’s research revealed that an estimated 100 million people have died as a result of socialist or communist government policies.

How many of the 2/3rds of Americans who own or are buying their home would vote for ANY socialist, or Democrats embracing socialism, if they thought it could mean surrendering their property?

As a longtime political independent, my hunch is it would be few, if any.

How many Christians would embrace Marx’s declaration: “The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.”

Some say 30 percent of Christians don’t vote or don’t vote routinely. That should change this election.

The time to vote wisely to protect our rights to property, to the free exercise of our beliefs, and all of our God-given and Constitutionally protected rights is in this election. If you haven’t already voted, do so.

You don’t have to tell anyone how you voted, or you can tell the world. Right now, that is our free choice.

The misunderstanding of socialism, communism, and related autocratic systems is a failure of American education. Republicans could and should do a better job explaining these critical details.

It only takes about 3 minutes of reading (or sharing) this article to begin to understand why millions have fled socialist and communist countries and that it makes no sense for any Americans to vote for it or for those who embrace DSA or related positions. ##
