Lakeland Seeks New City Attorney Following Palmer Davis Retirement

The City of Lakeland initiated the search for a new city attorney following the announced retirement of longtime City Attorney Palmer Davis.

Key details of the transition plan:

  • Search Leadership: Mayor Sara Roberts McCarley and Commissioners Chad McLeod and Mike Musick were tasked with leading the search committee to find Davis’s successor.
  • Transition Timeline: Davis agreed to remain in the role through the end of December to assist with the transition.
  • Interim Appointment: If the city does not select a permanent replacement by January 1, Deputy City Attorney Ramona Sirianni is set to step in as interim city attorney.

Davis was appointed interim city attorney in late 2019 and formally named city attorney in January 2020 after decades in the city’s legal department.
