Earlier this year, students in Lakeland High’s photo and art clubs were tasked with restoring and revamping two of the city’s iconic swan statues.
After months of hard work, the birds are back.
The monochromatic swan, overhauled by the LHS photo club, is now decorated in hand-painted film strips with pictures of Lakeland’s famous locales.
LHS art students gave their swan a vivid paint job that was inspired by the city’s logo, and also pays homage to the statue’s original design.
According to city officials, the photo swan will soon be placed on the lawn at the Chamber of Commerce, while the other will roost at Lake Mirror near the Fire Department.
