A 9-year-old girl has died after an ATV accident Saturday in Plant City.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says around 8 p.m. an 11-year-old girl was riding a Can-Am Commander a vehicle similar to a dune buggy with two bucket seats on Varn Road in Plant City.
Deputies say the 11-year-old attempted to turn the vehicle around, losing control and causing the vehicle to overturn. Neither girl was wearing a seat belt.
The 11-year-old was able to climb out from under the vehicle while the 9-year-old was ejected.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded and transported both occupants to South Florida Baptist Hospital where the passenger was pronounced deceased. The driver suffered minor injuries.
