FHP states paint chips match from scene. FHP believe that the 1995 Dodge Dakota was traveling southbound on US-301, south of Gould Road, and struck Leon Gilbert-Bailey who was walking along the west shoulder of the highway. Post-impact unknown vehicle that fled the scene of the crash traveling southbound on US-301. Transported to an area hospital, Gilbert-Bailey later expired from injuries sustained during the crash. Unknown vehicle is expected to have damage to the right front of the vehicle, right headlamp assembly, engine hood, windshield and A-pillar.
Owner of vehicle has not been found.
