On July 5, 2019, PCSO deputies arrested 32-year-old Carrington Latson of Davenport for two counts battery domestic violence (M-1) and one count simple assault (M-2).
Latson is a teacher at Wendell Watson Elementary School in Lakeland.
According to the affidavit, Latson and his wife were arguing the morning of July 5th, when Latson swung a lamp at the victim, striking her on her ribcage. He then threw the lamp against the wall, shattering it. Deputies observed a red mark on the victim’s body where she complained of having pain and saw a gouge in the wall and the shattered lamp. She then disclosed that they had argued on July 4th when Latson grabbed the victim’s arm and shoved her after he told her to leave the room and she refused. He pushed her out of the room, then chased her upstairs. When she locked herself in the master bathroom, Latson forced open the bathroom door, breaking it. Deputies observed the damaged wooden door frame.
Latson was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Polk County Jail.
