Name of Incident: McIntosh Power Plant lactic acid release

Incident Description
A 6,000-gallon tank of lactic acid (ph <2) developed a leak around a valve that allowed 20-60 gallons to be released. The release went into a concrete-lined onsite sump that is connected to our onsite wastewater treatment process. The lactic acid released did not impact the operations of the onsite wastewater treatment system. The beginning date and time of the incident have not been definitively determined, but the release has been stopped and the lactic acid has been transferred to intermediate bulk containers so the valve on the tank can be repaired. No Human health, environmental, or wildlife impacts were caused by the release.
