Heavy downpours on Sunday and early Monday dropped 2 to 6 inches of rain in localized parts of Polk County.

A stalled low-pressure system fueled by a Super El Niño pattern has dumped up to 6 inches of rain (and in some areas significantly more) across parts of Central and South Florida since Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The sudden deluge triggered flash flooding along major corridors, including areas near Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland, where runoff filled roadside ditches and left vehicles stranded. A Flood Watch remained active across the area into Monday afternoon to monitor low-lying and poorly drained roads.
