FSC Martin and Cvjetan Emerge Victorious at Sailfish Invitational -

Florida Southern College men’s tennis excelled on the final day of action at the Sailfish Invitational on Sunday, with Chase Martin emerging victorious in the No. 6 singles flight final and pairing with Miroslav Cvjetan to additionally win the No. 3 doubles flight final. The Moccasins finished the day 7-1 in singles play and 3-1 in doubles play. The squad will now turn its attention to the ITA South Regional this upcoming weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In singles flight No. 1, Brandon Pham defeated Juan Marrero of Keiser in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 10-6) to win the seventh-place match.
In singles flight No. 2, Erik Nordblom defeated Umberto Rosi of Palm Beach Atlantic in a tight three-set contest (7-5, 1-6, 12-10) to win the seventh-place match.
In singles flight No. 3, Valentin Hertweck earned third place by defeating Gabe Hocevar of Lynn in two sets (6-4, 6-2).
In singles flight No. 4, Brian Pham earned third place by defeating Mikel Baumann of Rollins in three sets (7-5, 1-6, 13-11) and Cvjetan earned fifth place by defeating Nicolas Cabrera of Lyn in an equally close three-set match (6-4, 2-6, 13-11).
In singles flight No. 5, Oscar Sohl won fifth place with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Biel Roca of Keiser.
In singles flight No. 6, Martin was victorious over teammate Danny Thomas by walkover, giving the freshman his first tournament flight win as a Moccasin.
In doubles flight No. 1, the Pham twins fell 8-3 to Turosienski and Ferraris of Keiser in the seventh-place match.
In doubles flight No. 2, Hertweck and Nordblom were winners of the third-place match against Danielson and McLeod of Rollins in an 8-4 contest.
In doubles flight No. 3 Martin continued his finals success, pairing with Cvjetan to take down Perez and Bilis of Saint Leo in a close 8-6 match.
