The Florida Southern College men’s soccer program is receiving recognition for its strong play, and is currently ranked No. 9 in the South Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The fourth USC poll of the season was released on October 1.
Southern is one of six Sunshine State Conference members in the rankings. Atop the regional poll is West Florida (6-0-0), followed by Florida Tech (6-0-0), Lynn (5-0-1), Palm Beach Atlantic (4-1-1), and Lee (5-1-1). In sixth is Eckerd (4-2-1), followed by Mississippi College (3-1-2), Auburn Montgomery (4-3-0), Florida Southern, and Nova Southeastern (3-2-2).
The Mocs (2-2-3 overall) entered the poll this week after posting an impressive last few weeks. On Sept. 21, FSC tied Palm Beach Atlantic 1-1 in double overtime, when PBA was the No. 6 ranked team in the country. On Sept. 25, FSC tied Rollins 2-2 in double overtime, before beating Nova Southeastern 2-1 in overtime on Sept. 28. NSU was receiving votes in the national poll at the time, and was ranked No. 5 in the south.
