The Southeastern University women’s soccer program has continued its stay in the NAIA Top-Five. The Fire came in at No. 4 in the latest installment of the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the fourth-consecutive week.
The Fire won three Sun Conference matches in a span of five days last week, including a 2-1 double overtime thriller over St. Thomas on the road to conclude the week.
Senior forward Uchenna Kanu earned recognition as The Sun Conference and NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week for her five goal, four assist performance during that stretch.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
Fellow Sun Conference member Keiser remained at No. 1 in the national rankings.
The Fire play their last regular season home contest this evening at the SEU Soccer Complex. SEU takes on the SCAD Bees at 7:30 p.m.
