The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) honored two Florida Southern College men’s soccer student-athletes today with 2019 Academic All-District® laurels. Senior defender Claus Lehland and senior midfielder Eneko Lasheras both were voted onto the NCAA Division II District 5 team, which comprises 13 student-athletes from the Gulf South, Southern Intercollegiate, and Sunshine State Conferences.
Lehland (3.89 GPA/Business Administration) has started 13 times this season while appearing in 14 matches. A stalwart on the backline, he has been a calming influence on a unit that allows just 1.47 goals per game.
Lasheras (4.00 GPA/Business) has played in all 15 games for the Mocs this season, making 13 starts. He has scored three goals on the year, coming against Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech, and Barry.
The 2019 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. CoSIDA has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952.
The Mocs finished the regular season at 5-5-5 overall, including a 3-3-4 mark inside the Sunshine State Conference. By finishing in sixth place, the Mocs qualified for the SSC Championships and will travel to face No. 3 Palm Beach Atlantic on Monday, November 11.
