Florida Southern College volleyball junior Rachael Martin was named an Academic all-District selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon. The selection is the first in Martin’s career.
The Academic all-District team recognizes student-athletes for their excellence in the classroom and on the court. Martin, a nursing major with a perfect 4.00 grade point average, leads the Moccasins this year with a .282 hitting percentage and 62 total blocks. She is also second on the team with 186 kills and 2.19 kills per set.
Martin had a standout season in 2018, earning AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, AVCA All-South 1st Team, D2CCA All-South 2nd Team and All-SSC 2nd Team selections. She is also a two-time Sunshine State Conference Honor Roll member, a D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree and a one-time SSC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 1, 2018).
Southern volleyball hits the road this weekend for matches against Nova Southeastern (Friday, Nov. 15) and Lynn (Saturday, Nov. 16).
