City of Lakeland is excited to announce our very own Sgt Aaron Peterman and K-9 Blizzard will be competing In Episode 8 of #AmericasTopDog on A&E!

The weekly show, which premiered in January of this year, features four police K-9 teams and one civilian K-9 team competing in three rounds of competition. Sergeant Peterman and K-9 Blizzard joined then senior trainer Jeff Barrett and traveled to Los Angeles to film for the show after being selected from the more than 700 K-9 teams interviewed.
A twenty-year veteran of the Lakeland Police Department, Sergeant Peterman has held positions in Patrol, Neighborhood Liaison Unit, SWAT, Street Crimes Unit, and the Narcotics Unit before being assigned to K-9 in 2006. As a K-9 officer, he handled three dual certified, patrol/narcotic K-9s (Tuffy, Charief, and Nox) and reached trainer status before being promoted to Sergeant in 2014.
Sergeant Peterman was assigned to the K-9 unit as the supervisor in 2016 and partnered up with his fourth K-9, K-9 “Blizzard,” a dual certified patrol/explosives dog. K-9 Blizzard is a four-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix imported from Slovakia. Blizzard also often deploys with the SWAT team. He won Top Explosives Dog in the 2017 USPCA Region 1 Field Trial, was a member of the USPCA National 2019 first place Patrol Dog four-person department team, and the Top Patrol Dog in the 2020 USPCA Region 1 Field Trial.
Sergeant Peterman is the current United States Police Canine Association – Region 1 President and a certified USPCA Regional Patrol and Detection Dog Judge. He also is a FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) certified General, Firearms, Driving, and Canine Instructor, as well as a state-certified Canine Evaluator.
