The Global Pentecostalism Center at Southeastern University will host its spring lecture series on Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m. The speaker for the spring lecture is Dr. Doug Petersen, Margaret S. Smith professor of world missions and intercultural studies at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif. The title of Petersen’s lecture is “A Moral Imagination Revisited.”
In addition to being a professor, Petersen serves as the executive director of the Judkins Institute for Leadership Studies at Vanguard. He is also the founding director of CINCEL, Vanguard’s Costa Rica Study Center that prepares students for work on a variety of levels within Latin America through language study, cultural immersion and the discussion of significant issues related to the mission field.
Petersen has co-authored a number of books with fellow Vanguard faculty including “The Globalization of Pentecostalism: A Religion Made to Travel” and “Called and Empowered: Global Mission in Pentecostal Perspective.” He is also the editor of “Transformation an International Dialogue on Mission and Ethic,” a magazine with worldwide distribution that is published by The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies.
The lecture is free and open to the public. It will take place at 7 p.m. in the Science Building, in room S107, at Southeastern University.
Petersen will also speak during Southeastern’s chapel service on Thursday, March 12, at 9 a.m. on the topic of “Lessons from a Mentor.”
