While on patrol at 3:00 AM, an FHP Trooper spotted a sedan on the westbound I-4 outside shoulder that appeared to have been involved in a traffic crash. The Trooper stopped to investigate the incident and discovered the driver laying on the ground outside of the vehicle. The driver had been shot once and further investigation revealed multiple bullet holes entering the driver side of the vehicle.
FHP Investigators were called to the scene and determined the vehicle had been traveling westbound on I-4 when the shooting occurred and which resulted in a traffic crash. The driver was transported to an area hospital and remains in serious condition.
FHP Investigators believe a passenger was also inside the vehicle during the shooting, but fled the scene shortly after the incident. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the FHP by calling 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers.
