Bullets Fly on I-4

On August 22, 2020, approximately 2:23 PM, FHP Troopers responded to a shooting incident that had occurred along westbound I-4, west of the 7 milepost, at the exit ramp to Hillsborough Avenue.  The victim, a 35-year-old Tampa man, indicated that while traveling westbound on Interstate 4 at the exit a black Hyundai sedan occupied by three black males drove up to the left side of the victim’s Toyota sedan.  The victim heard gunshots as his vehicle was struck by six bullets, penetrating the vehicle from the trunk to the driver’s door.  The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries when also struck in his left side and chest area by bullet fragments.  Following the shooting, the suspects continued traveling westbound on I-4.  The victim was later transported to an area hospital for medical care.
