The City of Lakeland will close Fairbanks Street for 30 days starting Monday as part of a $5.1 million road construction project with Polk County to extend N. Wabash Avenue to Fairbanks Street, which will be closed to traffic from Kathleen Road to West Bella Vista Street. Traffic will detour at West 10th Street to bypass the work zone.
When finished, N. Wabash Avenue will be a two-lane urban roadway from U.S Highway 92 to Fairbanks Street with sidewalks, street lighting, a stormwater drainage system, and a new traffic signal at West 10th Street.
