Polk Fire Rescue Station 46 near Poinciana was called to participate in a mock home fire to help demonstrate the effectiveness of sprinkler systems in homes. The event was held for the Future Builders of America, along with the Florida Fire Sprinkler Association.
The demonstration had two simulated bedrooms that were designed to catch fire. One mock room had a fire sprinkler system that extinguishes the fire quickly. The other mock room did not have a sprinkler system and let the fire build in the room before the group asked Polk Fire Rescue to put water on it.
