Lake Gibson suddenly has found itself in need of a head football coach after Robert Paxia resigned on Monday morning to become head coach of his alma mater Flagler Palm Coast.
Paxia’s decision caught Lake Gibson officials by surprise.
“It’s unusual for a coach to make the move in May right after your spring game,” Lake Gibson athletic director Eric Haynes said. “So we were a little caught off guard by it.”
Defensive coordinator Kyle Worden will be the interim head coach while Lake Gibson conducts its search. Haynes said that Worden has indicated that he does not desire to be the head coach long-term.
