Polk County Fire Rescue assisted the Florida Department of Forestry with several brush fires Monday afternoon.
1. Several camps were destroyed in the River Ranch Hunt Club, east of Lake Wales. Forestry firefighters. No injuries were reported;
2. Polk firefighters also assisted with a fire at Lake Rosalie and Shore Drive, east of Lake Wales, where the brush fire was kept in check until Forestry could arrive and establish fire lines. Once the lines were established, Polk Fire monitored for any spot fires jumping the fire line. No structures were lost and no injuries were reported;
3. Several shooting stands were destroyed in a 500-acre brush fire at the Streamsong Resort. Forestry firefighters are monitoring the fire with established fire lines around the property.
No injuries were reported.
Dry conditions that contribute to the brush fires are expected to persist in Polk.
