The Lakeland Chamber of Commerce is now collecting nominations for The ATHENA Leadership Award, The ATHENA Organizational Award, and The ATHENA Young Professional Award. The Lakeland Chamber ATHENA Leadership Awards will be held at the RP Funding Center on August 26, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. We would also like to thank our Diamond Sponsors: Polk State College and Lakeland Regional Health; our Platinum Sponsors: GiveWell Community Foundation, Mazda Lakeland, Citizen’s Bank & Trust, CPS Investment Advisors, Prime Meridian Bank; and our Gold Sponsors: Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center and Orlando Health.
The nominees must have a proven record of contributions to their company or organization’s business and/or financial growth. In addition, nominees must demonstrate ongoing advancement or progressive job growth in their career, as well as significant leadership accomplishments, other achievements, and milestones along the way. They also must possess a minimum of five years of professional business experience, and their business must have a presence within the greater Lakeland area. For-profit or non-profit sectors are eligible. ATHENA Award Selection Committee members are ineligible.
The ATHENA Leadership Award honors women who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment. Women who excel in their chosen field have devoted time and energy to their community in a meaningful way and opens doors for others to follow in their path.
The ATHENA Organizational Award is presented to an organization based on if the business or organization encourages women to achieve their full leadership potential. In addition, this recipient must give back to the larger community of women and girls by providing and/or supporting leadership development opportunities and initiatives. Lastly, this recipient supports and develops women’s leadership initiatives on a global scale.
The ATHENA Young Professional Award honors emerging women leaders under 42 years old who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession. Recipients must also demonstrate their commitment to service by contributing time and energy to improving the quality of life of others in the community while serving as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.
