As has been reported, COVID-19 cases have risen in our area, and the number of people seeking care for COVID-19 at Lakeland Regional Health’s Medical Center and Physician Practices has increased over the last month. The information below provides a snapshot of what we are experiencing at the hospital and other important information about testing, treatment, and vaccines.
CURRENT NUMBERS AT THE MEDICAL CENTER (as of July 26, 2021; 3 p.m.)
Patients positive for COVID-19: 174
Patients with symptoms of COVID-19 awaiting test results: 31
Number of patients in Intensive Care positive for COVID-19: 17
Number of patients on a ventilator positive for COVID-19: 10
BED CAPACITY
There were 847 patients admitted to our 864-bed Medical Center as of earlier today. All hospitals, including ours, have surge plans in place that allow us to adeptly handle these types of volumes. Please Note: these numbers change rapidly as patients are discharged or moved and new patients are admitted daily.
VACCINES
COVID-19 vaccines are available at our Pablo Campus Urgent Care located near the Southgate Shopping Center in Lakeland (130 Pablo Street). No appointment is needed. Hours 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
TREATMENT OPTIONS
For individuals with mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, Lakeland Regional Health’s Urgent Care locations provide treatment and testing, including labs and radiology services.

- Lake Miriam | 4710 S. Florida Ave (next to Lake Miriam Plaza)
Both are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those with more severe symptoms should seek care at the Emergency Department at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY THERAPY
Lakeland Regional Health continues to administer RENGEN-COV with much success to patients 12 and older with COVID-19 who meet certain requirements. This drug therapy is aimed at curbing the severity of symptoms to reduce a patient’s need for hospitalization. For more information, visit https://www.mylrh.org/covid19therapy/
COVID-19 TESTING AVAILABLE AT LAKELAND REGIONAL HEALTH
Rapid antigen testing is available at our Urgent Care locations
PCR testing is available at our Drive-Thru Testing Center at the Medical Center D•E Garage by appointment only. Call 863.413.5907 to schedule an appointment (results in approximately 24 hours).
Pediatric Testing at the Children’s Emergency Department: Testing for children 17 and younger. Children will need a doctor’s order. For questions, call 863.687.1203.
