Dear PCPS families, Earlier today we issued a message to all schools asking them to review their plans for tomorrow’s orientations. Given the surge in COVID-19 cases in our state and county, we are allowing schools the option of having virtual orientations to help reduce the number of visitors on campus before the school year begins.
We fully support any school that wishes to change its orientation plans or take other measures to protect students, families, and staff. This was not an easy decision, and we apologize for the short notice. We know it will be inconvenient and disappointing for many families who were looking forward to the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our schools and staff.
Please understand we are already experiencing impacts from COVID-19. One of our schools has had to temporarily close for cleaning after multiple staff members tested positive; other schools have reported positive cases among staff.
Anything we can do to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 will help us protect our employees and community, so we can begin the school year safely and on time. Again, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and late notice. We hope you understand and will continue supporting our schools.
