Members of the Lakeland Police Department are following the protocols set forth by City Management that requires all City employees to wear a mask (or a face shield if they have a medical condition that prohibits the use of a mask) while in a City facility or vehicle when the employee can’t social distance (more than 6 feet from another person). Most of our officers are riding by themselves in their patrol vehicles and therefore may not be wearing a mask. When officers are riding together in a vehicle, there may be some instances where their masks are removed. (for example, if there is difficulty understanding an officer while communicating over the radio with dispatch or if they are eating/drinking)
