The Lakeland Royals were given the opportunity to play in a tournament at the illustrious Amway Center in Orlando Florida on Saturday the 22nd. Their opponent was the IBCK Lambs of Venuzuela. The Lambs had a fantastic team and was even anchored with a former Houston Rockets Basketball Player.
One of the highlights of the game was in the second quarter when Trey Natade of the Royals split the defenders, drove down the lane and got tremendous air for a fantastic dunk. This was a very hard fought game as each team brought their A game to the Amway Center on this Saturday afternoon.
The lead went back and forth the entire game. Coach Chop did a masterful job of leading the team during the afternoon and making the decisions that placed the Royals in the best position to win the game. Each team played incredibly hard and the chess match was nearly a draw. With just 5 seconds left the Royals took the lead for the final time. The Lambs had an opportunity to tie but one of the Lambs tried to call a timeout and they had none left, the official missed the call for the time out so no technical was called. Then, a desperation shot by IBCK fell short as time ran out.
In the end the Lakeland Royals were able to pull out the win with an 84 -82 final score. It was a very exciting game and the Royals have moved to 6 and 0 in preseason play.
