According to FL Trend Tampa is #1 in traffic congestion. They have moved into the top spot above Orlando. That is what happens when you concentrate on high-density housing. Tampa drivers are now spending 48 hours more per year driving than they have been in recent years. Read that correctly – 48 hours MORE. They are at 72 hours’ drive time per year and growing in Tampa city limits.
Let’s not be like Tampa! Mutz has an affinity for high-density housing. How about learning to love single-family homes. There are many multifamily buildings going up in Lakeland when there are still units that are available. And no, they are not “affordable” housing.
What Lakeland is in dire need of is single-family housing. People want homes with neighborhoods to raise families in. This is precisely what is causing home prices to absolutely soar to new heights. The lack of inventory for the rapidly diminishing single-family home developments.
So Bill – care to be a proponent of single-family homes as opposed to your path of urban high-density overcrowding in Lakeland? If you are really “All in for Lakeland” please take the residents into consideration. Don’t sell us out to the high density, high traffic, and overcrowding diminishing quality of life that is currently part of Lakeland’s charm. Or – step up and move you and your family into one of those high-density buildings you like to push on other areas in Lakeland.
