Fl Gov Ron DeSantis’ Continued Refusal to Divest from Russia as Florida Pension Fund Loses $200m

“In February, Americans stood in solidarity with Ukrainians and democracies across the globe against Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. The United States and our allies imposed severe sanctions on Russia to undercut their efforts to exert influence beyond their borders, crippling the Russian economy.

“For months, Democrats have urged Ron DeSantis to take a stand against Vladimir Putin and the atrocities in Ukraine by divesting Florida’s State Pension fund from Russian companies so that working Floridians’ hard-earned pensions would not financially support Russia’s war. He refused.

Shortly after the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and other state lawmakers requested that Gov. Ron DeSantis formally end the state’s involvement with Russian businesses through the state’s pension fund.

“Now, reports indicate that Florida’s pension fund’s investments in Russia have lost $200 million, or two-thirds of its value two months ago. Once again, Governor DeSantis’ inaction and incompetence are costing working families in Florida.” Florida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz

  1. It should be apparent to intel that Gov. DeSantis is compromised, by Vladimir Putin. Just like Trump. Ironically, Floridians of Cuban decent aren’t wise to the ruse and allow this to continue. Fox News is also heavily invested by Russian/Putin propagandists

  2. If DeSantis did take 200 million out of the Florida retirement system then he needs to be removed from office and put in jail. How dare he take the money from all the hard working people who worked really dared for that money and to give it to Putin well I just can’t write what I want to without getting it to trouble
