Lakeland celebrated 65 years since Queen Elizabeth II gifted the city with swans, but this isn’t enough! We must do more!
Many have traveled across the pond to see the famous swans, and many have stayed, and are now citizens of Lakeland. We say to them, WELCOME!
In honor of our fellow British residents, Lakeland will be renaming several streets and lakes in their honor.
*Lake Mirror will be changed to QE II Mirror Lake in honor of Queen Elizabeth the II.
*South Florida Avenue will be renamed, Princess Diana Avenue.
*All downtown streets named after states will be changed to Leeds, London, Winchester, Oxford, and Manchester.
*City Hall will be known as Windsor Castle II in honor of HRH.
On the weekends, downtown Lakeland will be offering horse and carriage rides throughout the town and around Lake Hollingsworth which too will be renamed Windermere Lake. This beautiful ride will be the home of memorable events for engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, etc. The horse stables will be next to the Country Club.
The new QE II Mirror Lake will be given another face-lift by adding the LONDON EYE and a clock tower replicate of BIG BEN. Many will use THE LONDON EYE which we will call THE LAKELAND EYE, for all occasions.
The LAKELAND EYE will bring in visitors from every country to see our beautiful city, plus help our economy as well.
A new cafe will be coming to the downtown area called….
The cafe will feature the great British Teas with scones and clotted cream, and cucumber sandwiches. It will be a jolly good time! Wearing a fascinator will be the proper dress code for women and a tie for men. If you don’t have one, there will be a store inside the cafe to purchase the proper attire.
Lakeland is being renewed by becoming proper with class like our fellow Brits. A touch of class is being placed upon this city like a crown. It is much needed!
