At approximately 7:30 AM on June 2nd, the Lakeland Fire Department (#LFD) received a call of a motor vehicle accident involving three vehicles, located at the intersection of Lakeland Hills Boulevard and East Bella Vista Street. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle upside down on top of another vehicle with the driver entrapped in the upside-down vehicle.
Fire crews quickly stabilized the upside-down vehicle and removed both front driver and passenger doors to make access to the driver. The driver was alert and conscious, talking with fire crews the entire time. The extrication was completed in less than 20 minutes and the driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The occupants in the other vehicles involved were checked for injuries, but none were transported to the hospital.
A total of nine LFD units, three Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) Medic Units, and several patrol units from the Lakeland Police Department (LPD) responded to the scene.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The Lakeland Police Department is investigating the accident.
I hate it bc it looks God awful tacky. This is not in no way alleviating bumper to bumper traffic. Should have just taken a polll from taxpayers of Lakeland bf deciding to waste taxpayer dollars.
