Julie Jenkins Fancelli Daughter of George Jenkins is a part-time Lakeland resident, and figures in new revelations from the congressional committee investigating Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Fancelli provided $60,000 that was paid to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., for a brief speech at the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021. The U.S. House Jan. 6 Select Committee is exploring evidence that people in the circle of former President Donald Trump benefited financially from money generated from Trump’s false claims of election fraud.
The Post reported that Fancelli has testified before the House committee. Fancelli pleaded to the Fifth Amendment, which provides protection against incriminating oneself, CNN reported.
Fancelli declined to comment Wednesday.
The Washington Post previously reported that Fancelli wired $650,000 in December 2020 to groups organizing the Jan. 6 rally.
Publix issued a statement saying that she “is not involved in our business operations, nor does she represent the company in any way.”
