Lakeland restaurants temporarily closed

In Lakeland:

• Miller’s Lakeland Ale House, 5650 S Florida Ave, was closed Sept. 7 after inspectors reported two high-priority violations and four basic violations.
• Winghouse Bar And Grill, 4515 S Florida Ave, was closed Sept. 6 after inspectors reported two high-priority violations, two intermediate-priority violations and four basic violations.

Pest violations

In Lakeland:

• Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 4835 S Florida Ave, was cited Sept. 6 with one pest violation.
• Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 4829 S Florida Ave, was cited Sept. 8 with two pest violations.
• Miller’s Lakeland Ale House, 5650 S Florida Ave, was cited Sept. 7 with three pest violations, on Sept. 8 with one pest violation and on Sept. 8 with three pest violations.
• Schalamar Creek Caddy Shack Restaurant, 4500 Hwy 92 E Unit 1028, was cited Sept. 8 with three pest violations.
• Winghouse Bar And Grill, 4515 S Florida Ave, was cited Sept. 6 with two pest violations, on Sept. 7 with one pest violation and on Sept. 7 with two pest violations.

What do restaurant violations mean?

Inspections are reported through the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, which says each inspection is a snapshot and restaurants could have more or fewer violations on other days.

High-priority violations are those that could cause food poisoning or injury, such as problems with cooking, cooling and handwashing.

Intermediate violations are those that could lead to risk factors that could contribute to food poisoning or injury, such as problems with personnel training.

Basic violations are those that violate best practices.
