A woman was killed in a crash Wednesday morning in northeast Lakeland.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to North Combee Road and Saddle Creek Road at 7:02 a.m. and found Yaritza Pacheco, 37, of Lakeland dead at the scene.
The victim’s name is Yaritza Pacheco (female) 37, from Lakeland
The other driver is Carlos Garcia, 39, from Lakeland
The Sheriff’s Office said that, based on evidence and interviews at the scene, the Pacheco was traveling north on Combee Road in a 2014 Nissan Versa when a white 2008 Chevy 2500 pickup truck driven south by Carlos Garcia, 39, of Lakeland attempted to turn east onto Saddle Creek Road in front of the Versa.
Garcia and his two juvenile passengers were uninjured. The Sheriff’s Office said none of the people involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
Deputies closed a small part of North Combee Road for two hours during the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office said no criminal charges are anticipated, but civil citations are pending.
