This week we received a phone call from a woman (Lesia) about 20+ cats who had begun hanging around her mobile home. Her family recently bought a home in a park in the Skyview/Crystal Lake area. The road she lives on is a dead end and people are frequently seen dumping cats and dogs. To add to the problem, a neighbor had been evicted and left his cats and dogs to fend for themselves. We provided Lesia with a large bag of cat food and applied Bravecto to all of the cats and kittens we could pet as many are covered in fleas. With her help, we rounded up a beautiful and very young mother cat and her adorable three month-old babies. After defleaing and deworming them, we placed the whole gang in a foster home and they’re doing great. They’ll be going to the vet on Tuesday for their first set of vaccines and we’ll get them scheduled for spay and neuter surgeries so we can get them adopted quickly. There are two boys, two girls and a young mom. We’ve named them after cosmetic brands– L’Oreal (mom), Maybelline, Estee’, Aramis, and Giorgi.
Tonight, from the same neighborhood, we picked up a beautiful, super sweet brown tabby who is fully pregnant and due any moment. She was placed with a new foster where she will receive excellent care. We expect babies fairly soon as mom’s belly is really big and she’s quite uncomfortable.
There are at least 15-18 cats left in need of trapping for spaying and neutering. New cats show up every day to be fed so there’s probably many more in need of TNVR. Several of the teenage kittens are beautiful and very much adoptable. In fact, a couple of them climbed in our car but, unfortunately, we don’t have enough room for them at this time. Our plan is to raise funds to spay and neuter as many as possible to stop the population explosion. We would like to go back and pick up the adoptable ones when we can make room. We need your help to raise those funds and to cover the cost of surgeries for L’Oreal and her babies. It takes a community to make a difference. We are willing to do the leg work but we need the financial assistance to accomplish our mission and get this large colony under control. Please open your and help us tackle this project.
