We sat down with Ashley Davis, the owner of The Twisted Mixer, a new local event bartending & server company.
A 4th generation Florida native. According to Ashley, she was raised on sweet tea and Plant City strawberries in beautiful Lithia Florida. For the last 20 years, Ashley has honed her skills in the event service industry. Now she is serving the central Florida area with her event bartending service.
How did you get into this field?
“Purely by accident. A friend asked me to bartend for her sister’s wedding. Then another friend asked me to bartend her wedding because her scheduled bartender canceled about a week prior to the event. That’s when the lightbulb came on for me. What if clients can book bartenders and servers without having to worry about cancelations? So, I partnered with people I know in the service industry. If a bartender or server is unavailable, I have another on standby. And the client doesn’t need to be bothered with scrambling to replace them.”
What makes your company special?
“I think it’s the experience I’ve gained in this industry. It takes a special person to cater to a bride on her wedding day and actually make her happy. Weddings especially can be so stressful so whatever the client wants you have to know how to make happen. We provide a custom experience for our clients. We have experienced bartenders, barbacks and servers who understand the importance of fantastic service. The most important thing for me is for my clients to enjoy their event so we strive to make the experience as fun and stress-free as possible.”
What is your favorite part of what you do?
“Events are so fun for me. It is work but it is absolutely what I love. Weddings are my specialty. I love love and I love weddings. I love getting to know my couples ahead of the wedding. And it is not unusual to see me cry at a father/daughter dance or best man’s speech. I always laugh at how ridiculous I am”
What would you like our readers to know about your business?
“Many clients think hiring a bartender or server is out of their budget but once we sit down and discuss their expectations, they find that hiring a bartender or server is cheaper than they think. I like to emphasize going ‘Bougie on a Budget’. We can make your bar look expensive without the high cost. I also like to discuss non-alcoholic Mocktails. Imagine having a professional bartender at your Graduation or sweet 16 mixing up custom Mocktails for your guests! Your party will be the talk of the town!“
