Lakeland commissioners voted Monday to unanimously approve a conditional use permit to allow Lakeland Loft owner Soloman Wassef to open a casual beach-themed bar dubbed Lakeland Island Breeze on the ground floor of the same building at 201 E. Main St.
“Just want to share the great news it is official now the Island Breeze is coming soon,” he wrote in a Facebook post following the meeting.
Wassef presented plans to remodel the area that last served as Dart World Gaming Arena into a bar serving up Caribbean-themed cocktails and music. Finding live music groups who perform Caribbean island music has proved difficult, Wassef said, but he’s open to the possibility of musical performances for special events.
