The possibilities of what you can do with a quality whiskey are truly boundless. But most whiskey sours are made with store bought sour mix which is just not up to par with whiskey like Breckenridge, WhistlePig, or my go-to: Makers Mark 46. And no whiskey drinker wants to settle for a sour mix that is full of preservatives, high fructose corn syrup and those pesky dyes. Yuck. A well-made drink with fresh ingredients is a complete game-changer and best of all, completely simple. My sour mix is a combination of fresh lemon juice and local raw honey. Sound boring? You don’t know honey! Why not try honey made from hot pepper flowers or black berries to add a little extra zing to that sting!?

Ingredients:
2 oz whiskey
3 oz fresh lemon juice
2 tsp. honey
Pre-mix the honey and lemon juice and add as needed to your liking. In a rocks glass add ice, whiskey and lemon honey mixture. Give it a little stir. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Now isn’t that tasty!? Cheers!
