The previously announced closure of the eastbound approach of Old Bartow Lake Wales Road to the recently-opened roundabout at Rattlesnake Road (County Road 653) in southeast Winter Haven was incorrect. Instead, the three-day closure started this morning on the Rattlesnake Road (County Road 653) leg of the roundabout to install a drainage crossing for the new South Pointe Elementary School. Following this closure will be another 30 days of recurring lane closures on both the Rattlesnake Road and Old Bartow Lake Wales roundabout approaches to build turn lanes into the school campus. Combined lane closures will continue to slow traffic through the roundabout.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution and add time to trips through this area.
