When it comes to surviving the month of September, there’s no better lesson than learning how to dodge a swarm of lovebugs. It’s like a low-stakes game of dodgeball, but with more swatting and a lot less athleticism. To be clear, lovebugs are not harmful – they don’t bite or sting, and they don’t carry any diseases. But they can sure be pesky – especially for drivers! So, if you want to survive the season of love(bugs), here are three things you should know:
1. Citronella candles and bug repellants may make you feel better, but they won’t get rid of lovebugs. That’s all. Sorry to disappoint.
2. The best way to protect your car is to use a hood deflector, and for your home consider using screens for windows, doors, patios and pools.
3. Air-conditioning and fans can also keep them away, and if you’re feeling creative, a vacuum cleaner hose may be your best friend.
