Two men have been arrested in connection with what deputies called a “chop shop” operation in Hillsborough, Polk, Hernando, and Sarasota counties.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found numerous stolen items including a Kubota Skid Steer Loader valued at $100,000, 22 appliances, 90 pieces of stolen cabinetry, and assorted pre-hung doors.
Jose Sardon, 35, was charged with second-degree grand theft; operating a chop shop; selling or possessing a vehicle with altered numbers; possession of a motor vehicle with VIN plate removed; and dealing in stolen property.
Lazaro Ruiz Ruiz, 52, has been charged with second-degree grand theft during a state of emergency and tampering with physical evidence.
